Kathmandu Valley itself & Kathmandu Valley Rim Trek is popular for hiking and trekking activities around the culturally and naturally rich areas neighboring Kathmandu. As the name suggests, we travel along the hillsides enjoying majestic sunrise and sunset views along with views of mountains, hills, and villages. Chispani and Sundarijal are both famous for the water source, that originates from the hills of Shivapuri. Thus, these places have much religious and social importance among the people. There are temples in Sundarijal and Shivapuri where people go and worship the gods. Walk among the fertile land with pure water and fresh air.
Your holiday will be spent well. You might also want to check the Kathmandu Dhulikhel tour for a shorter version of this trip. The trek from Sundarijal to Chispani passes through forest trails and small villages. We stop by at several points to admire the beauty of the landscape and view of the northern mountains. Nagarkot is one of the highlights of this trip.
The trek starts at the beautiful village of Sundarijal (tasty water), known for its naturally tasty and rich drinking water. From Sundarijal, we trek towards Chisapani (cold water), and later towards Nagarkot, a beautiful hill station providing panoramic views of northern Himalaya, and one of the most beautiful sunrise view hilltops in the country.
Trek to Dhulikhel is another highlight of this trip. Later, we move towards Namobuddha Monastery, a beautiful monastery at the top of a hill. Namobuddha is a different incarnation of Lord Buddha, known for his kindness and gratitude. As the story of Namobuddha goes, he offered his hands to a hungry tiger during a great famine. He couldn’t see the tigress starving with her cubs. Namobudhha Monastery is huge and contains various chambers and prayer rooms that you can enter and observe. Get a chance to feel closer to Buddhist philosophy and its influence on Nepali culture.
Kathmandu Valley Rim Trek is filled with adventures, blissful hikes, peaceful and luxurious stays, and finally, great views of the Himalayas and sunrise from high hilltops. In this way, we spend a week-long holiday exploring the foothills of Kathmandu Valley. The trek ends with a refreshing, pure, and joyful feeling.
We highly recommend the Kathmandu Valley Rim trek for hikers who want to spend their holiday in central Nepal.
