And that’s for a good reason. Ghorepani / Poon Hill is getting popular day by day for photographers and nature lovers’ paradise. Sunrise Trek offers a striking panorama full of Annapurna (I, II, III & IV), Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal Gangapurna, and Manaslu Range. And on top of that, Ghorepani Poon Hill is easily accessible from Pokhara. Beautiful spots of Tadapani, Nayapul, Ulleri, Tikhedunga, and Pokhara are accessible in the Annapurna Region, which is well covered by the same trekking route.

To begin with Annapurna Sunrise Trek, firstly, we drive for about 2 hours to reach Nayapul from Pokhara. From here, the trekking begins. By the end of the next day, we will reach Ghorepani. It is possible to hike up to Poon Hill on the same day for a sunset view. As for the sunrise in the Annapurna the next morning, it’s not something you’d want to miss. Trekking in Annapurna will let you feel the Himalayan panorama while providing you the opportunities to get close to Annapurna’s local Culture and lifestyle. Even though the sunrise trek is short, some parts of the trip are difficult. For instance, climbing the Ulleri hill with thousands of steps tests your limit.

Trek hardcore up the 3000 stairs, and make sure your packing list contains good boots, sticks, water, sunscreen, and warm clothes. Plus don’t underestimate the downhill fun. The Poon Hill trek is short and exciting as it is challenging and rewarding. Weather in the region is favorable around late winter, spring, and fall.

Embark on a journey through Ghandruk, one of the most expansive villages of the Gurung community. DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF ANNAPURNA SUNRISE TREK

Annapurna Sunrise trek is graded moderately difficult, as it requires climbing up the steep stairs. However, our trip is organized in such a way that enough rest is available each day. This trip can be easily conquered with some level of fitness and commitment. It’s a popular destination for family, friends, and new mountain enthusiasts.

From Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani, the trail involves a strenuous trek up the stone stairway requiring approximately 6 to 7 hours of trekking every day to complete this significant ascent. Since the journey’s highest point is around 3200 meters, some trekkers might experience signs of Acute Mountain Sickness, but the condition does not worsen. However, it is still necessary to maintain good health to avoid any risks of Mountain Sickness.
The trek's challenge is influenced by factors like altitude, terrain, and weather conditions. Heavy rainfall, landslides, and slippery trails, on the other hand, might make the expedition difficult. To avoid getting lost, trekkers always need to remain on their trekking track.

For travelers who wish to ease the journey, training the body to enhance stamina and endurance is recommended. Before the trek, it is recommended to engage in cardiovascular exercises and undertake day excursions involving steep hill climbs to help prepare for the diverse paths along the hiking trail.

BEST SEASON FOR ANNAPURNA SUNRISE TREK

The best times for Annapurna Sunrise Trek are during the Spring season (March-May) and Autumn (September – November). This timeframe offers clear weather ideal for capturing the best views of the majestic mountains. The landscape is transformed by the stunning display of gorgeous rhododendron blossoms painting the entire landscape in shades of red.

The temperatures remain moderate, with slightly chilly mornings and evenings while the days offer clear splendid views of the mountains.
Summer (June-August) is unsuitable for trekking due to heavy rains, resulting in poor visibility, soggy trails, landslides, and path blockages. Meanwhile, trekking in winter (November-February) involves coping with freezing temperatures, but the reward of clear skies unveils breathtaking Himalayan panoramas for those prepared to brave the cold.
