Vacation time somehow had to be put to good use. I wanted to explore a new place, somewhere that’s different from where I live. On recommendation of my close friend, I got in touch with Ram, and after much discussions, emails and whatsApp, I decided that trekking in Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek would most beautifully satiate my desire to travel.

As far as I was told, Mardi Himal was accessible from the north of Pokhara, and this was another good reason why I chose it over Langtang Trek and Everest Trek. I’ve heard a lot about Pokhara. In this trip, I would also get to explore this beautiful valley. Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek, along with Ghorepani-Poonhill Trek, Annapurna Base Camp Trek and lesser known Khopra exploration are all part of the Annapurna Region Trekking.

Of course, who doesn’t want to travel to a new place and experience something new? People like to make the most of their vacation time. But I prefer to travel. I wanted to extract as much from this vacation as possible.

As far as I was told, Mardi Himal was accessible from the north of Pokhara, and this was another good reason why I chose it over Langtang Trek and Everest Trek. I’ve heard a lot about Pokhara. Choosing Mardi Himal Trekking over other options in the Annapurna Region

The Annapurna Circuit is considered to be the best footpath in the world. Every year thousands of internal and external tourists go trekking in the Annapurna region. There are many trekking routes within the Annapurna circuit. Mardi Himal Base Camp Route is considered to be the best for trekking.

I was happy to know that this trek presided over Annapurna Sunrise Trek as it brought trekkers up close to Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South. To be honest, it was quite difficult to choose between Ghorepani and Mardi, and the close up view of Mount Machhapuchhre and Mardi Peak was the main reason I chose this trail.

This time too, we chose to make the most of the holiday time – Mardi Himal Base Camp. A few months ago, my friends Anup, Divas and Manila Mardi got ready to go. We had bought all the things we needed the day before and left from Kathmandu to Pokhara in the morning.

After eating delicious Nepali Daal Bhat in Mugling, we reached Pokhara at around 3 o’clock. Without any hesitation, we went to Dhampus by Jeep. We reached Dhampus around 6 pm, traveled all day by car and ate a lot of food in the morning. I also had to get up early in the morning and walk.

Good morning, but a kind of excitement in my mind and the hustle and bustle of manhood. So we drank only tea and moved on. On the way there were many people, some going to Annapurna base camp and some dying. We also chatted with them.

Stunning Views of Mount Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal while trekking

The Machhapuchhre Himal, which was visible from the very beginning, was guiding us. We also proceeded to flirt with him. But sometimes it was covered with fog and sometimes it was covered with fog. We reached Pritam Deurali from Dhampus through Pothana, traversing the green forests, glistening mountains and villages. There is good food and accommodation. After eating, we proceeded and reached the forest camp at around 3 pm. It was decided to stay in the forest camp that day. So we left our luggage and went for a walk. It started raining in the evening. Tomorrow’s journey will be difficult. We can walk! We talked to each other. After all, the mind is not. If this mind wanders so far, it will give you the courage to decide the rest of the journey! We tried to be confident.

Exploring the Forest Camp, Low Camp and the High Camp

When we found out that the phone would not ring after climbing up from the forest camp, we all called home and gave information. It was getting cold. And the fun of heating a fire in winter is different. We spent the night warming ourselves by exchanging experiences. On the morning of the third day we walked from Forest Camp to High Camp. The road is slippery and difficult due to rain at night. Exhausted, we rested in the low camp. The day had been foggy since I left Forest Camp. The mountains were covered with clouds. We chatted with other friends on the way.

When we reached a place called Badal Danda, we sat down again and captured some pictures. After walking all day, we reached High Camp in the evening. The last hotel on this trekking route was also in the high camp, so we stayed there that day. Friends I met on the way were also sitting there. As it was getting very cold, the sister of the hotel started a fire. The people there were very lively, enterprising, funny and helpful. We slept with friends, advising them to go to base camp in the morning.

Breathtaking Annapurna South Views from the High Camp

Once we reached High Camp, we were fortunate to have booked the northmost tea-house. On the right, Mt. Machhapuchhre and Mardi Peak just below her. However, we were still not fully able to grasp the beauty of Machhapuchhre. On our left, complementing the landscape, Annapurna South beautifully rose across the barren hill. Annapurna was really close. In fact, one could say that we could literally climb down the hill and start climbing the mountain. Of course that was the grandeur illusion that nature had decided to bestow.

A part of me almost didn’t want to move further anymore, as I could not imagine how grandeur this could get beyond what we were experiencing. On the other hand, excitement was getting higher thinking of the next day’s journey. As it turns out, our expectations and imaginations can’t quite comprehend what we were about to see.

The final ascent to Mardi Himal High Camp Point

The next day at four o’clock in the morning we set off for Mardi Base Camp. Since we had to return to the high camp, we left our bags at the hotel. We all started walking with torch lights in our hands. Some people had arrived before us and some were coming later.

The road is very steep. It was getting very hot as I had to climb in the dark. It took us about 4 hours to reach the base camp. Finally reached the final destination. After reaching Mardi base camp, where did the previous fatigue go? I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Mardi. The beauty of Mardi cannot be described in words. I was tired of saying why I didn’t come before this. This was probably the first time in my life that I saw such a beautiful and captivating scene.

Before my eyes, I got a chance to capture the beauty of Mardi Himal, Annapurna Himal and Machhapuchhre Himal. I could hardly have been so happy standing in front of the mountain! It was like reaching a different world. He was not deceived to see the mountain standing in front of his own eyes. But Siretto became purple. We returned to the hike without stopping for a long time to catch the cold.

Backtrip – Descending from Mardi Base Camp towards Pokahra

We returned to the high camp, ate some food, packed our bags, and left for Siding. The harder it is to climb, the harder it is to descend. Probably because we had been walking since morning, it was very difficult for us.

By the time we reached Siding, it was already dark. Some people in Siding were saying that they would reach Pokhara and we also reserved a car together and reached Pokhara in the Evening.

After capturing those memories, new experiences and unforgettable moments and the beauty of manhood in our minds, we finished our journey on the Seven day and reached Kathmandu. Trekking in Mardi Himal has definitely proved to be a great experience for me. With the excitement of these words, I would recommend this trek to anyone willing.
