Tsum Valley Trek


Tsum Valley, also renowned as the “hidden valley”, is a sacred valley situated in the lap of Himalayas. Tsum means “vivid” as Tsum Valley is regarded as the holy place for Tibetan people. Tsum Valley Trek is one of the newest trekking route in Nepal for the foreigners. Until 2008, no foreigners were allowed to enter this sacred valley. Therefore, Tsum Valley Trek gives an opportunity for trekkers to trek around the hidden valley of Nepal. Tsum Valley is located in Manaslu region in northern Gorkha and borders with Tibet. Hence, most of the people here are Tibetan. Tsum Valley has polyandry culture running from generations. All the brothers in a family marry one girl as they believe it brings all family together. Tsum Valley Trek uses passes and gorges that offer the splendid view of Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and Ngadi Chuli along with Boudha ranges and Mansiri Himal ranges. The trekkers will trek along dense forests of pine, rhododendron, juniper, birch, etc. They will get to be around varieties of floras and faunas. Tsum Valley Trek pursues in giving trekkers a chance to trek along Buddhist monasteries, Chorten, Mani walls, and hamlets in the trekking route. Tsum Valley has its share of history with Buddhism. The trekkers will also get to visit ancient Buddhist monasteries like Dephyudonma Gompa, Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa and many others which are very important for people in Tsum Valley.     Day 02: Trek Arughat Bazaar passing through Soti Khola (730m.)

    Day 03: Trek from Liding thru Machha (fish) Khola to Khorlabeshi (930m.)

    Day 04: Trek from Khorlabeshi to Jagat (1440m.) which takes about six hours.

This trek is suitable for average people who are moderately fit, thus no previous experience is required. Some physical fitness programs such as running, swimming, hiking is recommended before you embark on your journey. Whilst on the trek, it is common to experience some discomfort before being fully acclimatized.
To prepare for a strenuous trek like this you should begin training at least two to three months before your departure. As a guideline, an hour of aerobic exercise three to four times per week would be considered a minimum requirement. The best preparation is bushwalking involving relatively steep ascents and descents. If you can manage a couple of valley floor to ridgeline ascents per comfortable and able to enjoy the trek to the fullest.
