For a solo trekker, the trekking trails of the Lower Dolpo are likely to appear unmarked, but for us, it is a road to our daily activity. We have immersed ourselves with its wilderness for the outdoor adventurers coming from different parts of the world who want to experience the past, the life of the 10th century. For more than 30 years, we have been showing them the natural beauty of the Lower Dolpo like the pristine mountain views, stunning lake, and beautiful landscapes that you would like to add to your bucket list if not today then certainly in the future. Over there, the trekking trail takes you to a high altitude, and standing with a tiring leg, you find the mountain views rewarding. The region is often called the “Hidden Treasure of Nepal.”
Whatever is hidden, you can call it isolation. Isolation means remoteness, and when the landscape has these two qualities, the place becomes a popular trek destination to the westerners. Every night you spend your time in this landscape. You can call it a worth spending night, once in a lifetime opportunity. Following the trail, you head into the direction that takes you to the lake as well as into the region where the Bon religion is practiced; its history dates back to more than 10,000 years old.
This is one of the highlights of the Lower Dolpo Trek, and another is you are in a designated protected national park of Nepal known as the Shey Phoksundo National Park. The dramatic views along the trekking trail are going to create an impressive trekking experience in your life. As you follow it, you are likely to spot snow leopards, rare Himalayan blue sheep, goral, thar, and Himalayan black bear. You don’t have to have a little luck to see these animals; you confront them while walking.
If you want to avoid crowds, if you want a quieter trekking trail, then head to the Lower Dolpo region to be far away even from villages and enjoy the pleasant side of nature in order to experience unforgettable trekking in the land of the Tibetans not in Tibet but in Nepal.
This begins at 3000 m plus. Before you head to a higher elevation than this, you have to acclimatize, otherwise, you will experience the symptoms of altitude mountain sickness like headaches, vomiting, tiredness, confusion, and dizziness. For those who want to trek more like you, the thirst for a higher elevation grows . This is a natural phenomenon. If you are a person who seeks mental and physical challenges, Lower Dolpo Trek is the right trek for you. If you are suffering from a certain health condition, then the Lower Dolpo Trek is not for you. With a brave heart, you can overcome the difficulties of the Lower Dolpo Trek and enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains. After you reach the top, there is a switchback you have to follow.
Since this is a camping trek, there are many campsites on the way. Prior to this, you will be staying at bed and breakfast in a hotel in Kathmandu and Nepalgunj. These hotels focus on cleanliness and hygiene. All have good beds, attached bathrooms, HD TV, Free WI-FI, etc. During trekking, you have to spend your night in a tent, and you have to share the tent (twin sharing). The waterproof tent is set up by our trekking guide and porter, including the dining tent, toilet tent, shower tent, and kitchen tent. We also provide you with all kitchen utensils.
