The Dolpo region is split between two very distinctive areas as Lower Dolpo Trek and Upper Dolpo. Special Permits are required to enter both sections. Trekking in the lower Dolpo region takes us to the popular Ringmo village and further to Shey-Phoksundo Lake (3,600m) through the Dho Tarap village (4050m), a region inhabited by people practicing polyandry and pre-Buddhist religion called “Bon Po” and two high passes of Numa La (5190m) and Baga La (4470m). Shey-Phoksundo Lake is also known as the Blue Lake and contains no aquatic life.
During the trek we will also visit Shey-Phoksundo park which lies en route one of the famous for its magnificent turquoise color and ranks it with the most scenic mountain parks in the world. The air strip at Juphal allows access connecting a flight between Nepalgunj and Juphal.
