Lobuche Peak provides spectacular view of Everest Region, Nuptse and Lhotse in the east. This is one of the most sought out activity in the region, and is liked by both seasoned climbers as well as novice adventurers. This is true with several other peaks in the Everest Region, due to the views they provide and the experience of climbing in the highest land of the world.

Climbing to the peak comes with spectacular views peaks in all directions. Climbing Lobuche requires physical fitness and determination. Lobuche is accessible via Gorak Shep, and consists of Lobuche East and Lobuche West peaks.

Technically speaking, Lobuche West is graded as difficult to summit. That’s why, most if not all climbers summit Lobuche East. Climbers reach the altitude of 6186 meters / 20295 ft. From the foot of the mountain, it’s a 3 day journey to the top of Lobuche and back.

Getting Ready for Lobuche East Peak Climb

You need climbing permits for Lobuche East Peak Climbing. Don’t worry about this though, as our program cost is inclusive of all the permits and taxes. You can have a detail look into Lobuche climbing options in our include/exclude section later on this page.

You will be flying to Lukla airport from Kathmandu to start Lobuche adventure. In fact, trekkers need to fly to Lukla for any trekking / climbing experience in Everest Region. That’s why, Lukla is famously termed “the gateway to Mount Everest”.

Later, we trek towards Phakding, Namche Bazaar, and other stop points in the region as we move towards our destination.

Lobuche East Peak Climb Introduces us to the Everest Region of Nepal

Everest Region dissolves you in the world famous Sherpa people, their culture and lifestyle. In fact, most of your climbing staff, including your guide and leader, will be a Sherpa.

Before climbing Lobuche, climbing guides and leaders provide trainings and exercises. Besides this, we also recommend out client to follow an active lifestyle weeks or even months before their adventure.

This helps us strongly prepare and climb with confidence. You will also need to acclimatize properly to adapt the thin air as we ascent. Climbing Lobuche is graded as an fairly easy adventure(compared to other expeditions in the zone). About further information, March to May and October to December are considered the best months for Lobuche adventure.

  • day 1

    Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m) / Transfer to Hotel

    As you arrive at the Kathmandu airport, our representative will greet you and arrange your transfer to the designated hotel. Meet your travel companions, guides and our staff and prepare for the welcome dinner and trip briefing in the evening.

  • day 2

    Sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparation for trek leave

    After breakfast, we will organize a guided tour around the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu valley. We will visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath. Later in the evening, we will meet up for trek preparation and arrangements for the next day.

    Domestic Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2880m) [45-Minutes], trek to Phakding (2640m) [4-Hours]

    We will wake up for an early breakfast and drive towards Tribhuwan International Airport's domestic terminal for a flight towards Lukla. The flight will be interesting with mountain views on the north. As we approach Lukla, we will see bigger mountains looming towards us. Once at Lukla, we will take a brief rest before starting a 45-minutes trek to Phakding.

  • day 4

    Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3445m) [5/6-Hours]

    It's about 7 and a half kilometres hike from Phakding to Namche. The trail will continue to steep climbs at times while we cross the Trekking permit checkpoint and enter the Sagarmatha National Park Area. Namche Bazaar is known as the gateway to Everest. We will move into our hotel and spend the night in Namche.

  • day 5

    Acclimatization + hike to Everest View Hotel (3,962m) [1-hour]

    We will spend our fifth day in Namche Bazaar to adjust our body to the high altitude. We will spend the free time resting, strolling around the Namche Market, or spending time in one of the café/restaurant present there. Later, we will hike up towards Everest View Hotel, where we will spend the night.

  • day 6

    Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m), [5/6-hours]

    Our destination for the day is Tengboche which takes about 5-6 hours trek from Namche Bazaar. On this journey we will get a chance to observe the best views of the Himalayan Range.Tengboche monastery and school established by Sir Edmund Hillary in Khumjung Village are definite highlights to look out for.

    Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,250m), [5/6-hours]

    This day includes 5-6 hours long trek through villages Tengboche to Dingboche located alongside Imja River. This beautiful trail is so easy to fall in love with because of its extreme scenic beauty. Tengboche Monastery is the largest monastery of this region. The monastery opens at 3.00 pm so if we are lucky enough to reach there by time, we can also spend some time observing the Buddhist religious ceremony.

    Acclimatization / Rest Day at Dingboche

    This rest day is perfect for exploring one of the salient features of Dingboche village, kilometers of stone walls covering entire valley of Imja. The short trek along these mountain trails allows us to see more of massive Himalayan (snow-capped mountain) structures like Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Lobuche East/West and the famous Khola Valley. All the while we will acclimatize for further ascend to our journey. Accommodation: Tea-house in Dingboche.

  • day 9

    Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,900m), [5/6-hours]

    With our trek being 2-4 hours long, our route for the day is from Dingboche to Lobuche. This is a relatively short trek as the valley begins to narrow and we pass the historical 1993 Everest Expedition Camp. We will pass another village Duglha and ascend to moraine of Khumbu Glacier. We will be able to view peaks including Lingtren, Pumori and Khumbutse.

    Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m) via Gorakshep (5150m) and trek back to Goraksep [8-Hours]

    Our journey from Lobuche leads us to yet another Sherpa settlement, Gorak Shep after 6-7 hours trek. This is a popular stop for trekkers. Nuptse, Cholatse, Lobuche, and Pumori overlook the Lobuche village as we visit the Everest Base Camp including Majestic Mount Everest. The Everest Base Camp provides a stunningly breath-taking view of the overlooking mountains.

  • day 11

    Trek to Kala Patthar (5445m) and back [4/5-hours]

    Our next adventure leads us to Kala Patthar, a high black mountain providing great views of Mount Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. Kala Patthar offers an amazing panoramic view of the summit of soaring high mountains. World's tallest mountain peeks back with full glory as we are climbing up the hill to see Khumbutse and Changtse mountains. After we are We will head back to Kala Patthar.

  • day 12

    Trek back to Lobuche [4-Hours] + pre-climb training

    After breakfast, we will follow our way down the Khumbu valley towards Lobuche. Spend a tranquil evening at the tea-house, and spend some time and energy to practice climbing in the Khumbu icy mass to prepare for the approaching climb for the next two days. We are just back from the base camp of the world's highest peak, and now we are prepared to make a great climb to Lobuche, Mount Everest's close neighbor.

    Pre-climb training will be interesting as climbing leaders share vital and useful information on using the climbing gears such as ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, etc. We will also demonstrate and practice using the ropes and other technical skills.

  • day 13

    Climb to Lobuche (East) High camp (5800m) [4-Hours]

    After breakfast, we start our climbing adventure. The path to Lobuche starts to get steeper as we ascend. Mount Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Thamserku and other peaks shine with glory as we continue our climb towards the day's destination, the high camp, at a glorious height of 5800 meters.
    The training of earlier day will come in handy as we use the climbing gears and ropes to pull us towards the High Camp.

  • day 14

    Summit Lobuche Peak (6119m) and climb down to High Camp [9-Hours]

    Prepared to leave your tent shortly after midnight to begin the climb. We target on reaching the summit before afternoon winds disrupt our adventure. The climb is rocky upto 5500m and than we walk on snow after that height. With team effort and determination, we will make up to the top ! Yay.
    Enjoy great views of the highest mountains in the world from the summit. Take beautiful pictures and later descend towards High Camp.

    Contingency Day

    This day is here to make up for any probable delay in our plan due to various reasons persisting in summit adventure. This includes but is not limited to flight delays, health of team members and weather.

  • day 16

    Trek from High Camp to Pangboche (3900m) [8-Hours]

    After morning breakfast, we will descend High Camp towards Lobuche and join the Everest Base Camp trekking trail. We will enjoy our lunch at Lobuche and continue towards Pangboche village. On the way, we will also pass the beautiful village of Pheriche. Pangboche has a beautiful monastery which we can visit after we reach there.

  • day 17

    Trek from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar [4/5-Hours]

    After breakfast, continue trekking and ascending to reach the beautiful village of Tengboche, visit the Tengboche monastery, and continue along Imja River, Dudhkoshi river and Sansa Village. Shortly afterwards, we arrive at Namche Bazaar.

  • day 18

    Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla [7-Hours]

    Bidding our goodbye to glimpses of the highest summit of the world, we return back to Lukla from Namche Bazaar by trekking for about 6-7 hours. Every moment of the last couple of days spent will be a lifetime memory.

  • day 19

    Day 20: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu [30-Minutes], Hotel transfer

    Taking a 40-minutes flight back to Kathmandu, today is our final day here. This day is ideal for visiting Swayambhunath Stupa and exploring local streets Thamel. Taking a walk through Thamel, a busy tourist spot, buying souvenirs from here is the pretty good option. We meet up in the Evening for Farewell Dinner.

    Day 20: Transfer to Airport / Final Departure

    After breakfast, it will be time for us to bid you farewell. Your transportation will be arranged to the airport from where you will fly home. Or, if you are going for another adventure we will arrange it for you.
