Langtang Valley Trek is a mesmerizing journey to one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. From Kathmandu, take a 9 hour ride along the curvy Trishuli Highway. Your trek starts the next day as you cross the suspension bridge over Langtang River, and start ascending along the valley. Langtang is relatively easy and less crowded. Thus, trekking is peaceful and gives you the feels of an explorer. Syabrubesi (the town where we overnight the first day), is a town just a few kilometers away from the Tibet border.
You take a 8 hour drive from Kathmandu – via the windy road of Prithvi Highway to reach Syabrubesi. The trek starts the next day – ascending upon the beautiful valley of Langtang for the next few days. We reach Kyanjin Gompa Village, where we acclimatize and later ascend the Kyanjin Ri to reach the altitude of 4600 meters.
Throughout the trek, we explore higher mountains of the Langtang Region, Beautiful Tamang villages and also come across rich forests and wildlife (Langtang National Park), meadows and rivers.
This is unique and untouched by modernization except a small helipad at the Kyanjin Village. The locals run tea-houses for catering the trekkers’. Horses and mules are still used as the major form of transporting goods up the mountain. The people are Buddhists, raise Yaks and follow the Tamang culture and heritage.
We trek along the banks of Langtang River for most of the trip. Flora and fauna change from tropical to alpine as we gain altitude. As the valley opens up, great views of rocky hills and snow-clad mountains fills up the panorama. On the last day of ascend, we climb up Kyanjin Ri to view Ganesh Himal and Langtang Mountains up close, along with other Mountain peaks in the region.
