Overview

The village of Dhorpatan lies in midst of beautiful forests of pine, juniper, and rhododendron, which in turn lies inside the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve and the Dhorpatan Wildlife Reserve. Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is the only hunting reserve of Nepal which allows visitors with a valid license for recreational hunting. The area is not only rich in biodiversity with flora such as pine, juniper, rhododendron, oak and fauna such as Himalayan Thar, Gharial, and Black Bear and so on- this area is also rich in culture with various tribes and settlements around various places where the traditions of both Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists still remain intact.

Dhorpatan Trek takes you through a naturally diverse trail that aims to bring you closer to nature and yourself. Starting from the capital city of Kathmandu, you will move on to Beni from where your trekking will begin. As you tackle trails, you will reach several villages with unique charms of their own, including the village of Darbang where the locals are skilled in the art of making Khukuri (Nepali traditional knife) and the village of Dharapani from where you will get the first glimpse of the magnificent Dhaulagiri massif. Various trails will consist of dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron which is a common sight in this region. You will also be able to camp in the foothills of Phagune Danda which offers you incredible sights of the Western Dhaulagiri range which you will witness in the morning light of the rising sun.
